Hadimba Temple
Hadimba Temple is one of the best-known landmarks in Manali, about 2 km from Mall Road. It was built in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh and is dedicated to Hidimba Devi, the wife of Bhima in the Mahabharata. The wooden temple stands in the Dhungri cedar forest and has a tiered pagoda roof about 24 metres tall. There is no idol inside, because the shrine is built around a rock.
Most visits take 30 to 60 minutes. Weekends can be crowded, so go early on a weekday if you can.
Old Manali, Vashisht and Jogini Waterfall
Old Manali is known for its cafes, small shops and narrow lanes. It is a good place for a slow lunch or an evening coffee.
Vashisht is a village with natural hot springs and an old temple. From the village, a short trek through apple orchards leads to Jogini Waterfall. Wear shoes with a good grip, because the path can be slippery after rain.
