Honeymoon in Manali: Where to Stay and What to Do
Manali is one of the most popular honeymoon places in India, with snow in winter, green hills in summer and cosy cafes all year. If you are planning a honeymoon in Manali, this guide covers where to stay, what to do and how to plan three easy days.
Why choose Manali for a honeymoon
Manali gives couples a lot of variety in a small area. You can walk in a cedar forest in the morning, have lunch in a cafe in Old Manali, and visit a snow valley or a mountain tunnel the same week. The town has plenty of cafes and quiet corners, and you can choose how busy or how slow your days should be.
Where to stay
A room with its own balcony or terrace makes a big difference on a honeymoon. At The Sunlight Manali we have two room types made for couples:
- Honeymoon Suite with Private Balcony: a private balcony for quiet mornings and evenings.
- Mini Honeymoon Suite with Open Terrace: an open terrace to sit out on in the evening.
Honeymoon room decoration can be arranged on request, at extra cost, so tell us your dates and what you have in mind. In winter you can also ask for a room heater, also at extra cost. Free Wifi, room service and parking are available for all our guests.
Making your stay special
- Start a morning on your balcony or terrace, with the mountains in front of you.
- Order room service for a quiet dinner in your room.
- Have dinner under the open sky at our open terrace restaurant.
- Ask us about honeymoon room decoration before you arrive.
Romantic things to do
- Old Manali: a slow lunch or an evening coffee in the cafes.
- Hadimba Temple: a quiet walk through the cedar forest, best early in the day.
- Vashisht: the hot springs, and a short trek to Jogini Waterfall.
- Solang Valley: snow in winter, and paragliding in season for couples who like adventure.
- Atal Tunnel and Sissu: a scenic day trip into Lahaul.
- Mall Road: an evening walk, and dinner at our open terrace restaurant.
A simple 3-day honeymoon plan
- Day 1: Arrive, rest in your room, take an evening walk on Mall Road and have a relaxed dinner.
- Day 2: Hadimba Temple in the morning, lunch in Old Manali, and Vashisht in the afternoon.
- Day 3: Solang Valley, or the Atal Tunnel and Sissu for a day trip.
Keep one slow morning free just to enjoy your balcony. A taxi for the day trips can be arranged by the hotel, at extra cost.
The best time for a honeymoon
Manali works for honeymooners in most months. Choose December to February for snow, March to June for pleasant weather, and October and November for clear, quiet days. The monsoon, from July to September, is greener, but landslides can affect the roads. Read our guide to the best time to visit Manali for more detail.
